New Macedon Ranges deputy mayor Mandi Mees has nominated protection of the ranges and ease of mobility for all residents as being among her priorities.
Cr Mees, voted in as the new deputy mayor last Wednesday night, said she was excited about working with new mayor Janet Pearce and the entire council team.
“The key role that I am looking at playing is trying to find the biggest priorities that are important to councillors,” Cr Mees said.
“I want to make sure that all the strategic planning work that the shire is currently doing, and is looking to do in the future, is done at such a level that it absolutely protects the Macedon Ranges.
“Another that is often quite forgotten, but very important to many of the different demographics throughout our shire, is mobility. We are a shire of a number of small towns – I’d like to be able to help people move about.”
New mayor Cr Janet Pearce said she was looking forward to working with Cr Mees in their new roles.
“She thinks a lot outside the box, she’s very positive, the glass is always half full and she brings a lot to council,” Cr Pearce said.
