Daffodil Day will soon be in full bloom across Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges.

Sunbury resident Renee Allen knows first-hand the importance of the appeal, the Cancer Council’s annual fundraiser held each August.

“My mum was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and we lost her four months later,” she said.

“Every Daffodil Day I do one of the stalls where we fundraise.”

Ms Allen, 24, is studying for a bachelor of nursing at La Trobe University and is hoping to one day become an oncology nurse.

“Looking after mum and watching the other nurses look after her made me want to get into the industry,” she said.

This year, Cancer Council Victoria is hoping to raise more than $800,000 to help fund cancer research.

Daffodil Day will be on Friday, August 23.

Residents can support the cause at a number of stalls set up across the area or by visiting daffodilday.com.au
