Macedon Ranges and Sunbury residents are being invited to check out their local airfield in celebration of the aero club’s recent award.
Kyneton Aero Club (KAC) was named the 2017 Aero Club of the Year by the Australian Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Australian Flying magazine in September, after being selected from nominees across the country.
The club will be officially presented with the award at the Kyneton Airfield community open day on Sunday, November 19 at 12.30pm.
Locals are encouraged to join the club in its celebrations at the airfield on Sunday. The day will include a free sausage sizzle, a display of members’ aircrafts, which span over 75 years, and an exhibition from the Central Highlands Model Plane Society.
Community groups such as Kyneton and Woodend Rotary Clubs will also attend to commemorate the team effort that put on the 2017 Kyneton Rotary Airshow.
Kyneton CFA will be raffling a trial instructional flight, donated by the aero club, to fundraise for the brigade.
The community open day will take place at Kyneton Airfield, 1503 Kyneton-Metcalfe Road, Kyneton, on November 19, from 11am-2pm.
