Sunbury and Macedon Ranges community groups can now apply for funding up to $20,000 for projects focusing on equity, opportunity or inclusivity.
Greater Western Water announced the next round of applications for the Thriving Communities Program are open from Thursday, March 9 until April 6, 2023.
The program provides sponsorships up to $5000 and grants up to $20,000 to the community to help people connect and make the region a great place to live.
Greater Western Water general manager, Kessia Thompson said $125,000 was awarded to 16 organisations last year when the program launched.
“We’ve already seen some of the recipients from last year kick off their projects encouraging everything from connection, learning and celebration, to wellbeing of People and Country,” Ms Thompson said.
“In 2023, we want to build on that success.
“Applicants may have projects with a focus on equity, opportunity or inclusivity or they might be dedicated to helping the environment, individuals or industry to thrive.”
Ms Thompson said the Little Book of Resilient Riddell by the Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House was a great example of a community project.
“The initiative will explore how the town would survive and thrive following adversity,” she said.
“It will see collaboration across the community with groups including Cool Change, Scribes and Scribblers, the Riddell Roundup and the local Primary school come together to bring the book to fruition.
“As a result of this project, the township will have increased capacity to organise, coordinate and respond to adversity in the future.”
