Change Our Game scholarship applications open

The state government has announced applications for a professional development scholarship program are now open to Victorian women, including those in Sunbury and Macedon Ranges, which will support successful applicants in taking on senior roles in the sport sector.

The Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program will offer grants of up to $10,000 to Victorian women to complete training for senior roles, including specialised skill development courses and leadership coaching.

Applications are open to women in any career stage.

This round of grants will also offer a community leaders stream, supporting women volunteering or working in community sport and recreation to gain better access to professional development opportunities.

It will also include a new dedicated women with a disability stream to support women with a disability living in regional Victoria who want to progress their career in the sector.

The governance stream gives new or aspiring board directors the opportunity to complete a specialised sports governance course.

Director of the office for women in sport and recreation Sarah Styles said this program will help women access important development opportunities.

“Through this program, we continue to remove barriers to accessing professional development opportunities for women in sport, supporting expanded networks and future career success,” Ms Styles said.

Past grant recipients include Ashleigh Humphries, who completed the next generation Leaders stream and then took up a role as head of club projects at Richmond Football Club, and Amy Welsh, who completed the learning stream and then became affiliate support manager at Hockey Victoria.
