Macedon CFA members will be shaking their collection tins on Good Friday for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

For brigade First Lieutenant Greg Snart, this will be his 21st year raising money for the appeal.

He said the appeal and the hospital held a special place in his heart.

“My daughter was in the Royal Children’s Hospital when she was about three-years-old,” he said.

“She spent six weeks in the heart ward … the work that they do is fabulous.”

Mr Snart said brigade members always looked forward to the appeal and he asked Macedon residents to continue to give generously as they have in the past.

“We are a community service, so obviously we’re not fighting fires all the time,” he said.

“Anything that we can do to help [and] give back to the community – we’re just happy to collect whatever we can.”

The brigade has raised $51,326 for the appeal since it began fundraising for it in 1996.
