People are being asked to avoid Evans Street in Sunbury after a car ploughed through a shop front earlier this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the Reject Shop just after 2pm after a grey sedan mounted the gutter, drove through a small garden, across the footpath and through the building’s front window.
Three people were assessed by paramedics at the scene. A man in his 60s was taken to Sunshine Hospital in a stable condition.
“A couple of people” inside the store had been clipped by the car, according to Sergeant Nathan Ractliffe, who attended the scene.
He said there were some “very lucky people”, who missed being more seriously hurt by the car.
Sergeant Ractliffe said it appeared the driver of the vehicle, an elderly male, had mistaken the brake for the accelerator when pulling into a carpark outside the store.
Police are investigating.
Sunbury SES attended the scene.
