Long-time Sunbury resident Trevor Dance has nominated for this month’s Hume council election.

“I have been involved in the community environment, VCAT hearings … and I’ve been here for 30 years and even if I don’t get in, I’ll always still be here,” he said.

“I’ve got a lot to offer. What I say I’m going to do, I will do.”

Mr Dance has nominated for the Jacksons Creek ward. He said the biggest issue facing Sunbury and neighbouring towns was the potential for toxic soil from the West Gate Tunnel Project being dumped at Hi-Quality’s Sunbury Road site.

“That combines with the Bulla Bridge and the Bulla Bypass, the traffic and the infrastructure,” he said.

“You have two tips and what’s going on with the EPA (Environment Protection Authority) is terrible.”

“I’m a sponsor for a petition we are presenting to the Upper House.”

If elected in, Mr Dance said he would work towards promoting Sunbury as a tourist town.

“Tourism is something I find amazing in Sunbury. I want to push all that tourism stuff again and make it actually happen,” he said.

“We are close to the airport when it’s open, we have got all these little tourist areas around that we say we have got but do nothing with them.

“I really want to push for a nature trail at Mount Holden because the view from there, you can see Mount Macedon.”
