Both state Labor and the Coalition have pledged to upgrade Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre should they win the November election, committing $1.3 million and $1.5 million respectively.

Sunbury Liberal candidate Simmone Cottom announced her pledge on Friday afternoon, followed by Sunbury MP Josh Bull who made his commitment on Saturday morning.

The lack of recreational space and long swimming lesson wait times at the Sunbury pool have been ongoing points of concern in the community.

In a statement, the Coalition said it would install a new all-ages and abilities waterplay park, as well as additional shade and seating areas, promising $200,000 more than Labor, who pledged new outdoor play facilities.

Both parties have said they will work alongside Hume council to deliver the upgrades.
