Boil water notice for Kyneton and Malmsbury

Kyneton and Malmsbury residents have been advised by Coliban Water to boil their drinking water until further notice, following a water main burst.

Coliban Water made the announcement on April 11 after consultation with the Department of Health, following a water main burst in Rennick Avenue, Kyneton late in the evening, and said the advisory may be in place for several days.

They said residents should boil all drinking water, which can be used for drinking, preparing beverages, washing and preparing food, preparing baby formula, brushing teeth and making ice.

Unboiled water can be used to wash hands, shower, flush toilets, wash dishes and clothes and water the garden.

Residents should ensure dishes are dry before using them, and water should not be ingested whilst bathing.

Coliban Water said the burst resulted in a supply interruption for some Kyneton customers and very low pressure for others, which may compromise the safety of the drinking water.

Kyneton and Malmsbury residents will be able to access drinking water at the Kyneton Showgrounds and Malmsbury Botanic Gardens

Consumption of unboiled water may cause gastro-like symptoms and residents are advised by Coliban Water to contact a GP if symptoms are experienced.

Coliban Water said they will keep customers updated via its website, SMS and social media.
