Barbies fire up on Australia Day

It was all smiles down at the Kyneton Mechanics Institute for the Australia Day community breakfast, finally back after three years.

Organised by the Lions Club of Kyneton, with support from a range of fellow service organisations, the day was a huge success.

Dennis Bertoncini of the Lions Club pulled together the whole show and said everyone was thrilled to “bring it back in again“.

“We’ve missed out too much, we want everybody to enjoy themselves today, that’s the whole idea… have a nice free barbecue and enjoy,“ he said.

Lions Club member Alison Horley said it was a real community effort to bring the breakfast together.

“A lot of the product is local, the local abattoirs give us the sausages and the bacon [or we pay] at a discounted price, everyone just comes and helps themselves and has a good time,“ she said.
