ANZAC commemorations across the Macedon Ranges

Local secondary school students will be front and centre at the famous Mt Macedon Anzac Dawn Service on Wednesday.

Sacred Heart College Kyneton’s senior choir will lead the service songs and year 12 Kyneton Secondary College student Callum Withey-Johstone will do a reading in front of the thousands of locals and visitors who convene at Mount Macedon Memorial Cross.

The service will begin at 5.45am.

Roads to the cross will be closed. Free buses will operate from around the shire and Sunbury to the memorial service.

A shuttle bus will take people from Tony Clarke Recreation Reserve in Macedon to the service from 4.15am through to 5.20am.

A number of other ANZAC commemorations will also be held across the Macedon Ranges:

 

Kyneton: 1. a dawn service will be held at Kyneton Cenotaph at 6am, followed by a gunfire breakfast at Kyneton RSL. Breakfast is by gold coin donation.

  1. A march will be held at 9.30am on Mollison Street followed by refreshments at Kyneton RSL.

Romsey: a wreath laying service will be held at Romsey Cenotaph on Main Street at 7.30am

Malmsbury: a ceremony will be held at Malmsbury Botanic Gardens at 8am

Lancefield: a ceremony will be held in High Street at 8.30am. High Street will be closed to traffic from 8-10.30am.

Gisborne: a ceremony will be held at 10.30am at the memorial at Howey Reserve, Hamilton Street.

Woodend: a march will be held at 11.15am on the High Street service road followed by a ceremony at Woodend RSL at 11.45am. Road closures will be in place in Woodend township from 11am-12.45pm.
