Macedon Ranges council annual community grants for 2023-24 opened May 1, with a total of $235,000 available in funding.
The grants are available for local groups with a community-driven project or event idea under the community funding scheme and events and festivals grants.
Community director Maria Weiss said the grants support local groups who play a crucial role in the community and strengthening local inclusion.
“Last year we provided nearly $250,000 in funding and just over $10,000 of in-kind support through these two grant programs,” Ms Weiss said.
“This enabled the delivery of a range of activities which provided broad community benefit.”
“We encourage groups in our community who have an idea for a project or event, but just need some additional funding to bring it to fruition, to submit their application for consideration.”
The community funding scheme grant program is available to not-for-profit community groups, with $160,000 in funding for; community, cultural and environmental projects; organisational support; and small community infrastructure.
The events and festivals grant program is available to not-for-profit and commercially run events with $75,000 available for funding and in-kind support, including in-kind venue hire.
Applications for the two grants will close June 5, with a free grant writing workshop to be held on May 24.
Council officers will also be on hand to answer questions, explain the grants guidelines and criteria, and how to use the online application system.
