The Sunbury Angling Club is casting a wide net in the hope its coming family day will lure new members.
Committee member Greg Golding and son Matthew, who is club president, are encouraging fishing enthusiasts and their families to enjoy a day on the water at Spavin Lake, Sunbury, this Sunday.
“It’s a great opportunity to get out with the family and catch some fish,” Greg says. “The kids can come and learn casting and rigging, and have a go at bait and lure fishing.”
The free community event will include a juniors’ fishing clinic from 11am until 3pm.
The lake has been stocked with trout, yellow belly, red fin and other fish varieties.
