Family was the focus of celebrations at Thomas Carr College this week.

The Tarneit school held its annual Father’s Day breakfast and mass on Monday with dads, grandfathers and other family members from the college community.

Events co-ordinator Abbey Harrington said it was a way to celebrate “fathers and father figures” and the roles they played in students lives.

“Community connections are a very important element of life at Thomas Carr College,” Ms Harrington said.

“Celebrating Father’s Day with a mass followed by a breakfast is an invaluable opportunity to bring together the fathers, their children and staff through the celebration.

“It is a way for our students and our college to demonstrate gratitude towards our fathers.

“We also celebrate Mother’s Day and hold a grandparents mass and breakfast in the same way.”

Year 7 student Chloe said she was excited to dine with her dad.

“The greatest thing about my dad is that he is always willing to stop what he is doing just to help me,” she said. “He is always wanting to make sure everything is OK, especially through hard times.

“He is always there to help me get through everything and helps me to find the positives, especially when I might be struggling.”
