90-year-old hall’s facelift complete

Works on Lauriston’s 90-year-old community hub have been completed.

The upgrade of Lauriston Hall, backed by a $50,000 state government investment and delivered by Macedon Ranges council, has maintained the historic nature of the building while providing a number of new and improved facilities for the community to enjoy.

The hall’s original construction was funded by two local sisters pooling their money together in the early 1930s – this community spirit has carried through its latest update.

Access has been improved too, so people of all abilities can be a part of activities at the site.

Lauriston community members joined the Lauriston Hall Committee to work on the development of the final project.

Following pandemic lockdowns, a space for communities to be together is more vital than ever.

Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas visited the hall on Friday, March 25 to take a look at the revamp.

“We are revitalising a critical community hall in Lauriston to make it a more accessible space for everyone and to help people to stay connected,” Ms Thomas said.

“Our upgrades to Lauriston Hall will help the 90-year-old building continue to be an important hub for our local community, encouraging more people to visit the town which supports jobs and the local economy.”
