2023 pre-game sprint

The pre-game sprint is returning this year to a traditional 100 metre straight dash across the hallowed MCG turf.

Participants from each of the 18 AFL clubs will compete in two heats to determine the top eight fastest players, before running in the final race to see which player will be crowned the quickest in the league.

AFL executive general manager customer and commercial Kylie Rogers said the sprint is a much-loved tradition in September.

“While Collingwood and Brisbane battle it out for premiership glory on Saturday, the… sprint allows fans of all 18 AFL clubs to get behind their team on grand final day,” Ms Rogers said.

In honour of this year’s sprint winner, Coles will make a $5,000 donation to Ladder, an organisation providing young people mentoring and support through the Ladder program.

The heats will take place at approximately 12.15pm, with the final race to commence at 12.38pm.
