IN FOCUS: Sunbury gym is all about soul train

Big commercial gyms can often seem soulless.

Sure, they may have all the bells and whistles, but it can be all too easy to feel lost in the crowd.

Powerhouse Gym is certainly big, but the Sunbury operation has heaps of soul.

Why?

Because it’s owned and run by a family – Anthony, Adam and Paula Adelinis.

They genuinely care about every aspect of the place.

The gym opened last August and it’s open 24/7 for members.

It has a huge main gym area, a cardio deck and a cycle studio, as well as a pro shop with clothing, accessories and Powerhouse Gym-labelled apparel.

Anthony says the gym is a vibrant facility with something going on all the time.

“We have classes running morning and night through the week, and daytime sessions on weekends,” he says.

“We run Les Mills Body Pump, Cycle, BodyCombat and Sh’Bam classes, as well as Pilates, 45-minute Hit Circuit and BoxFit. We even have a yoga class at 7.30pm on Thursday.

“There’s something for all levels of fitness and personal goal setting. Personal trainers are on board and we also run virtual classes.”

The Adelinis family has been in the fitness industry for 10 years, having owned four different gyms in that time.

Paula says one thing that has been a hallmark of all of them is the atmosphere they encourage and actively promote.

“All our team members are fitness nuts and take helping people very seriously,” she says.

“And they practise what they preach. If someone wants to get fit, lose weight or gain muscle, there’s immediate help and experienced advice available.

“Seeing people go on their personal journey and reach their goals is very rewarding for all of us.”

Until the end of July, Powerhouse Gym is offering new members a chance to join with zero start-up costs and no fee for a 24/7 key tag. This equates to a $100 saving.

Powerhouse Gym, 12-14 Kurrle Road, Sunbury. Staffed hours 8am-10pm Monday-Wednesday; 8am-9pm Thursday-Friday; 8am-6pm Saturday; and 9am-5pm Sunday. Inquiries: 9740 9869 or powerhousegym.com/sunbury
