Salesian College students are making the final tweaks in preparation for their “systematic, hydromatic, ultramatic” school production of Grease, which hits the stage at the Clocktower Centre, Moonee Ponds, this weekend.

A cast of 70 students, with another 15 behind the scenes, and about 20 staff have been rehearsing since February.

Year 11 student Emily Marshall plays Sandy while two students, Braden Mercieca and Isaac McKenzie, share the role of Danny Zuko.

Performing arts co-ordinator Tanika Richards says she’s excited to see the students’ performances come to life on stage.

“As a teacher, it’s exciting to watch the kids develop and grow in confidence.

“Watching them from the time they audition and then go into rehearsals, and now to get ready for showtime, is very fulfilling.”

Doors open on Salesian College’s Grease on Friday, July 29, at 7pm, with two more shows on Saturday, July 30, at 1pm and 7pm.
