Children are making a big splash during the Gisborne Aquatic Centre’s summer holiday fun times.
The centre offers a school holiday learn-to-swim program for children aged three years and up.
Aquatic service officer Michelle Payne said the program was a great chance for children to build on their swimming and water safety skills.
The 30-minute classes take place over five days, with 30 per cent of the children going up a level by the end of the program.
“We strongly recommend [the program] for parents with children who have anxiety or for children who don’t do lessons in the term,”
Ms Payne said.
She said about 100 children a week took part in the porgram.
She said the pool inflatable was available between 1-3pm Monday to Friday throughout January for eager swimmers.
