Gisborne teen Megan Vaughan is the face of a new version of Alice in Wonderland.

Megan will portray two new characters – the Magic Door and Alice’s sister – in an upcoming show created for the Victorian Youth Theatre by Melbourne writer and storyteller Dan Nixon and director Tony Nikolakopoulos.

The 15-year-old from Braemar College has been acting for six years and has lessons at Victorian Youth Theatre at least twice a week.

“I’ve always loved acting and being able express myself on stage,” Megan says.“I love to be able to become someone else and be accepted as that character.”

The show comes to the Gisborne library on September 28, and still includes Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and other madcap Wonderland characters.

The free show will tour Victoria during September school holidays, and includes a cast of talented young performers putting a new spin on a beloved tale.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland runs from 10.30am to 11.30am at Gisborne library on September 28.
