Build ’em up at Gisborne Lego fundraiser

Organisers hope piles of Lego will transform into a mountain of cash during a Gisborne Scouts fundraiser.

1st Gisborne Scouts assistant group leader Carly Visscher says funds from the Brick Fest will help send local Scouts to the Australian Jamboree in NSW next January.

“We have 41 Scouts and nine leaders going,” she says. “It’s $1700 each, and some families have two or more kids so we’ve been fundraising all year.”

They have enlisted the help of Melbourne Lego User Group, with members ready to build a range of professional-quality displays. There will be a construction zone for children aged five and up, and market stalls, at the 1st Gisborne Scout Hall, Howey Street, 10am-3pm, September 5 and 6. Tickets: $5.
