Ranges rockers do battle

Wannabe rock gods and pop stars have the chance for glory at Kyneton Town Hall.

FReeZA Push Start’s annual Battle of the Bands local event is open to musicians aged 12 to 25 who live, work or study in the Macedon Ranges.

Trentham metal band This is a Prison (pictured) took out last year’s event, winning the cash prize and a place in the regional finals. Drummer Dan Evans said the experience was “absolutely brilliant”.

Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson said the council-run event was a great opportunity for participants to test their music on new audiences.

“Battle of the Bands has been uncovering new acts for over 10 years,” Cr Anderson said.

To perform in the Macedon Ranges heats on Saturday, August 5, register before July 18 on 5422 0242 or at mits@mrsc.vic.gov.au.
