IN FOCUS: Award-winning smiles all around

Anyone who has been under the care of Dr Thi Nguyen, principal dentist (and chief smiler) at Lotus Smiles in Sunbury, won’t be a bit surprised about the clinic’s big wins at the latest Hume Business Awards.

Lotus Smiles Dentistry won the Best Customer Service Award and was a finalist in the Professional Services category, in a record crowd of entrants.

In Thi’s three years in town, she has established her dental practice as a generous contributor of time and energy to the community, as well as gaining recognition for its ever-friendly team.

It seems Lotus Smiles is aptly named in more ways than one, because Thi and her terrific team are all about restoring their patients’ smiles, one way or another.

Thi says she’s loved helping people from a young age, and that remains her passion at the relaxed clinic – not to mention the considerable skills she brings to her profession.

Who joins Thi, who has outstanding dentistry credentials, on the team?

There’s Dr Sharon Chui, who’s practiced around the country. She excels in cosmetic dental treatments – such as Invisalign braces offered at the clinic. Dental implants, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are her special interests.

Known for her special care for patients of all ages, Dr Priyanka Ponugoti is a compassionate practitioner who patients find friendly, caring and really easy to talk with. She’s a people person.

Then there’s dental nurses Emma, Anne and Lauren, who set patients immediately at ease and keep things ticking over.

Besides all that wonderful care, what other services does the practice offer?

The general dentistry aspect covers all the usual treatments, from fillings, extractions and root canals to crowns, bridges and veneers, along with denture and part-denture procedures.

Very much a part of the community, the Lotus Smiles team attends local events and regularly visits childcare centres and aged care homes to raise awareness and provide education on good oral hygiene.

Thi and her team have received glowing reviews on their Facebook page, with many crediting the friendly team for curing a long-standing fear of a dentist visit – for both children and adults.

High recommendations are plentiful, and one patient notes her visit as “the best experience I ever had at a dentist”; another said “Not only great dental work, but delivered by professional and friendly staff”. Thi’s work is described as “exceptional” and another happy patient adds she is “amazing with kids”.

And to make life that bit easier for busy people, the clinic is open Thursday evenings and all day Saturday.

Lotus Smiles Dentistry, 92 Oshanassy Street, Sunbury. Opens 8.30am-6pm Monday-Friday (open until 9pm Thursday), and 9am-4pm Saturday. Inquiries: 8732 7377 or
