For an inclusive and supportive learning environment for your child, Sunbury Downs College is the perfect choice as a coeducational school catering for years 7 to 12.

As a medium sized school, students are known as individuals and supported to achieve excellent results through a range of subjects.

Principal Warwick Beynon believes that by having a medium sized school the college can work closely with parents and students, building a strong sense of belonging in a child’s adolescent years.

“We take a genuine interest in students and their growth as young people, not as children or students, but as people,” Mr Beynon said.

“We get the greatest satisfaction seeing students leave us with the knowledge, maturity and ability to become part of a community and become good, solid citizens.”

Sunbury Downs College has a comprehensive educational program including English, mthematics, sience, humanities, health and physical education, arts, technology and languages (Italian). The college also offers a range of VCE subjects, including Vocational Education and Training (VET) together with a structured VCE Vocational Major program in Years 11 and 12, catering for students with an interest in applied learning.

Sunbury Downs College also offers an Accelerated Curriculum and Enrichment (ACE) Program, which allows students to advance their studies and begin early commencement of VCE. The ACE program is a select entry course catering for the learning needs of students in years 7 to 9.

Mr Beynon said the school is extremely proud of its students’ achievements at all levels, but particularly those in the senior years.

“A lot of our students gained a great ATAR, over 88 per cent of them received their first or second preference to further study, while many others have gained direct entry through other courses of their choice.”

Last year’s college Dux Alice Liu achieved a top ATAR of 94.5 and has dreams of becoming a doctor.

“We’re extremely proud of her achievements,” Mr Beynon said.

Staff also support students’ passions through a wide range of inclusive activities, including debating, public speaking, maths club, drama club and choir.
