Perfectly charming: 36 Anslow Street, Woodend, 3442

A dead-set charmer in the heart of the village, Coroneagh is a classic California bungalow replete with the magic of the era, yet treated with contemporary liveability.

Right from the entry doors with diamond leadlight panes, the gorgeous period features flow throughout the house. The ledged picture rails atop wainscoting are a particular standout but equally striking are the leadlight-paned box bay windows, the strapped high ceilings, the brick fireplaces (now painted white) and the warm-white wall paint and toffee-toned carpet.

The lounge room is a lovely exemplar of the era’s romance, with its wainscoting, deep-set sash windows and fireplace, while roman blinds and a snazzy lightfitting hit on-point notes. A long dining room, which flows from the kitchen, has modern floorboards, a study nook at one end and multi-paned french doors to a rear deck and gardens.

The smart kitchen, with red pendants complementing a classic charcoal and white palette, has stacks of storage and bench space and stainless-steel appliances. The laundry includes a second toilet.

Of the three fitted bedrooms, one is extra-big (with fireplace and brilliant northerly light) and each is stylishly decorated. They share a modern bathroom with a finely framed, subway-tiled walk-in shower, and a charcoal and white vanity unit below an ornately framed mirror flanked by wall sconces. Floor tiles are in the toffee tone of the carpets, underscoring the attention to décor detail.

Back gardens are a lovely mix of lawn, defined garden beds and dense plantings – executed in a style that perfectly complements the property’s feel. A large garden shed and two water tanks are screened by mature trees. Access to the backyard is via driveways on both sides.

The shopping precinct and many fine eateries and specialty stores are around the corner, Woodend and St Ambrose primary schools are within a ten-minute walk and the train station less.

The block of about 1010 square metres has council approval to build an extension – which would be the perfect bow on a prized package. Subdivision potential also exists, STCA.
