Gracious living: 94 Mount Charlie Road, Riddells Creek, 3431

If a glamorous period-style residence, coupled with magnificent surrounds and inspiring alfresco spaces, sounds like heaven, then this one is a heart-winner.

On about 8.09 hectares of flat land and built by the master builder owner, the house is an exemplar of fine craftsmanship reflecting the look of yesteryear. It’s awash in features such as dado walls, hand-painted rosettes and corbels, ornate cornices and leadlight, with a colour palette that helps create a gracious mood.

Flanking a beautiful foyer (check out the floor tiles) are a fitted study on one side, a lounge/billiard room on the other. The latter has a fireplace with antique surround, as well as the same floorboards as in the adjoining kitchen-meals zone and family room with wood heater under another antique mantelpiece – a leadlight box bay window in here is sumptuous.

The big kitchen, with oak cabinetry, has a walk-in pantry, an island bench and all mod-cons.

The next-door laundry/sewing room has a walk-in closet.

The four fitted and carpeted bedrooms each have old-worlde charm, the main with walk-in robe and en suite. The main bathroom is a step back in time, with clawfoot tub, timber vanity flanked by leadlight windows and feature toilet.

An enormous, fully enclosed entertainment room with banks of windows and brick flooring, as well as a barbecue under a rangehood, is a fab space. Just outside, there’s a covered area with wood-fired pizza oven, hotplate and barbecue. A vine-covered timber walkway heads to another wonderful covered deck with built-in seating, while along the way there are vegie boxes and fruit trees.

The piece-de-resistance, however, is the glass pavilion in the front garden – a romantic setting for an evening drink or brekkie a deux, looking out to beautiful gardens. The property runs as a lucrative farm-stay business and this would surely be a favourite spot.

Finishers include a large shed with office, mezzainine and pot belly stove, 90,000-litre water tanks, a bore, three dams, fox-proof chook house, paddocks and shelter box and a double garage with cool room.

Any family and their critters will love to call this place home, with Riddells Creek station and cafes just five minutes away by car.
