Do Woodend in style: 4A Corinella Road, Woodend, 3442

Maella House, a beautifully designed, spanking-new Victorian cottage tribute, is a superb choice for city-commuting professionals who want the winsome Woodend lifestyle, without weekends spent on onerous property upkeep. Downsizers and small families will also love it.

It’s across the road from the station, with an hour-long trip into Flinders Street; and a short stroll from the heart of the village, as well as a Coles store to open this year.

Built to craftsman standards by Lancefield’s Lachlan Fleming, the house has subtle period references, such as the sash windows, ornate steel floor vents and nearly three-metre ceilings all through, but all else is bang-on for contemporary life.

Timeless Tasmanian oak floorboards line the entry hall and living hub, wall paint is crisp white, carpets and accents are in greys, and a combination of white casement plantation shutters and soft-grey roman blinds dress tall windows.

Ceiling, floor and wall insulation, plus noise-reducing double glazing throughout, achieve great climate control, ably assisted by gas ducted heating, multiple ceiling fans and a split-system.

The three fitted bedrooms flank the entry hall, the spacious main with a well-designed walk-in robe behind a mid-grey accent wall, and a chic en suite with smart matte-grey floor tiles, white subway wall tiling, and a wide oval basin, with provincial-style tapware, atop a Smartstone quartz vanity bench.

The spacious main bathroom, also along the hallway, mirrors the look of the en suite.

The large living domain has a meals zone with a leafy outlook for bird-watching, while the sitting area has a clever fully fitted study area concealed behind doors.

A trio of soft-grey concrete-form pendants are above the Stonesmart quartz waterfall island bench in the sleek kitchen. Soft-close cabinetry in white vinyl-wrap includes a top-and-tail pantry with appliance nook, loads of pot drawers, plus a lazy susan corner cupboard. Also featuring are a dishwasher and Euro Milan 900mm cooker.

The neighbouring laundry sports a built-in ironing board, shirt hanger and airing racks.

Finishing touches include a secure front lawn area behind a high picket fence – viewed from a private north-facing porch – and an automatic gate to three car parking spaces, one under a carport.

This is a fine way to “do” Woodend.
