Big-block seclusion: 18 Connors Road, Lancefield, 3435

It’s just three minutes by car to the main shopping precinct and a five-minute walk to the primary school, but this beautifully presented log cabin on about 3080 square metres feels like a secluded hideaway.

The house is set way back from the street, with a massive pebbled area out front – flanked by dense boundary plantings and spacious lawn – providing oodles of room to fulfil a future project. Meanwhile, there’s abundant parking before arrival at an as-new freestanding double garage with power connection.

House entry, beneath a full-length verandah, is directly into a lounge room which has laminate floorboards, an exposed-brick accent wall and great climate control via a gas log fire and a split-system.

The adjoining step-up kitchen and meals area has slate floors in shades of beige and taupe. Stacks of timber cupboards and moss-green laminate benches in the kitchen combine with an Asko dishwasher, a wall oven and gas cooktop.

A floorboarded hallway heads from the meals zone, along which are the laundry with tri-door closet and adjoining toilet; three grey-carpeted bedrooms; and a light-filled main bathroom with enclosed toilet and a moulded shower-tub arrangement – and a tall window frames views of a pretty fernery.

One bedroom along this hallway has built-in robes and a small computer station; two others (one ideal as a study) have walk-in robes.

The main bedroom, a step up from the lounge room, has walk-through robes and a soft-green and white en suite with modern vanity unit and heat lamp.

A covered deck looks out to a vast yard, which has swathes of lawn around landscaped garden beds. A weeping cherry and silver birch, an archway covered by an apricot rose, camellias, roses with cottage-style underplantings and pittosporums along the side fence add garden beauty, as will tulips and daffodils come spring.

Also out here are a great vegie garden, fruit trees and a large powered workshop with office and adjoining storage shed.

Other drawcards include ducted vacuum, ceiling fans and a 4000-litre water tank.
