Firefighters delighted

Fire brigades in the Macedon state electorate have welcomed money for much-needed equipment. Grants announced last week by MP Mary-Anne Thomas would help fund equipment such as trucks, tankers and trailers. Pastoria CFA got $100,000 for a light tanker, Kyneton CFA received more than $17,000 towards a field command vehicle, and Riddells Creek CFA got $10,000 for operational equipment.

Car lock-up plea

Sunbury motorists have again been urged to ensure they lock their cars following another spate of thefts from vehicles. A police spokeswoman said a large number of unlocked cars were targeted last week.

Truckies warned

Truck drivers have been urged to drive to conditions after a B-double truck carrying cattle rolled on to its side on Three Chain Road in Carlsruhe on August 17. It follows a similar crash on the same road in June.

Wine, networking a good mix

Businesses working in the tourism sector are being encouraged to attend a networking evening on September1. Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Anderson said this year’s event would focus on food and wine. For more details, visit goo.gl/d1lYVH.
