Sunbury Lions had a mixed day on the netball court against Redan in the Ballarat Football Netball League at Clarke Oval on Saturday.

The Lions’ A-grade girls led at every break to win 35-28.

The girls had a four-goal lead at quarter time and half time which they extended to five at the last break.

In the final term, the Kangaroos were able to extend the margin to seven goals.

Sophie Gunn and Ruth Smith shared the goals around, shooting 18 and 17 respectively.

The win keeps them undefeated and sitting second on the ladder.

In A-grade reserve, the Lions couldn’t keep up with Redan in the second half, succumbing 23-29.

The first half was an even contest with only one goal separating the teams at half time.

Redan came out firing after the break, shooting seven goals to one for the quarter, which was to prove the difference.

Kila Elavo shot 17 goals for the Lions.

In B-grade, the Lions led at every change to win comfortably, 33-25.

After an even first quarter, the Kangaroos shot nine goals to five to open up a five-goal lead at half time.

Redan outscored the Lions by one goal in the third term before the Lions ran away with the game, shooting 12 goals to eight in the final quarter.

Lisa Summers topscored with 24 goals.

In the under-19s, the Lions lost a thriller, 21-22.

The Lions took a two-goal lead into the final term but weren’t able to hold on, being outscored eight goals to five.

Taylah Sette scored 16 of the Lions’ goals.
