Sunbury man wins $200,000

What started off as an ordinary lunch break quickly turned extraordinary for one Sunbury man after he checked his recent Lucky Lotteries tickets and discovered he was the mystery winner who scored $200,000.

As the winning ticket wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, officials had no way of making contact and had to wait for him to check his ticket and come forward.

His winning entry was purchased from Sunbury Square Lotto and News, Sunbury.

When an official from The Lott finally spoke with the winning man one week on from the draw, he shared he was still pinching himself in disbelief.

“I tell you what, I thought it was a joke at first,” he said.

“I was having a pretty ordinary day, and it turned around pretty bloody quickly.

“I was on my break at work, and I remembered I had some lottery tickets to check.

“When I scanned my ticket the first time, I thought the screen must’ve been glitching. So, I just kept scanning my ticket over and over in disbelief.

“I would’ve scanned my ticket about half a dozen times, before I rang my wife asking for her help to check it was real.

“Gosh, it still hasn’t sunk in.”

With a six-figure windfall soon to land in his lap, the elated winner shared the prize had come at a great time ahead of retirement.

“I think we’ll put most of it away for our retirement, which we’re hoping to enjoy soon,” he said.

“It’ll be a bit of a safety net for us.

“For now, I think I need to go and sit down and enjoy a cold beverage to calm my nerves.”
