Elderly Victorians can look forward to free weekend public transport in the new year.
From 1 January 2026, seniors concession myki card holders will be able to travel for free on public transport anywhere in the state on Saturdays and Sundays.
Seniors must still carry their seniors concession myki and continue to tap on and off as usual, but their card won’t be charged.
The new entitlement will be automatically added to cards on 1 January next year.
Seniors concession myki holders can currently travel for free within two consecutive zones at the weekend.
The change means that those who travel regularly will save more than $360 a year.
