Kangan Institute TAFE will permanently offer electric motorcycle training for technicians.

The program, announced by Skills and TAFE Minister Gayle Tierney, has been designed to give technicians the practical skills needed to safely manage high-voltage systems used in electric motorcycles.

“This training ensures our technicians can service electric motorbikes safely, while cementing Victoria’s nation-leading position in clean-tech skills,” Ms Tierney said.

It will also cover key safety features and procedures to ensure participants are confident and well-prepared to work on the latest technology.

Kangan Institute TAFE has built the program on its existing Battery Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing program.

With demand for electric cars and motorcycles increasing, equipping technicians with the skills to safely service electric motorcycles will be increasingly important.

“Motorcycle EV training is a national first, and it builds on our plans to continue upskilling the industry and its future workers,” Kangan Institute acting chief executive officer Janelle Arena said.

“Kangan Institute is proud to be leading the charge in electric vehicle training, helping build the skills Australia needs for a clean, connected future.”

Savic Motorcycles supported the initiative as a key industry partner, providing electric motorcycles for training and contributing valuable expertise to the program.
