Search in Broadmeadows park for missing Sunbury man

Police have returned to Broadmeadows Valley Park this morning June 16, as the search for missing Sunbury man Joshua Bishop enters its third week.

The renewed search effort – centred on Barry Road in Broadmeadows –includes detectives from the Hume Crime Investigation Unit and Missing Persons Squad, alongside the Mounted Branch, SES, and Search and Rescue teams.

It follows a previous search of the park on June 4, after Joshua’s phone was last traced to the area on May 27.

That was the same evening he was last seen by his housemate at a Lalor Crescent property about 9.30pm.

His mother reported him missing two days later.

Local police and the Bishop family remain concerned for Joshua’s welfare, describing his sudden disappearance as “completely out of character”.

The 23-year-old’s phone and bank accounts have not been accessed since he vanished, and he has made no contact with friends or relatives.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the disappearance is suspicious.

They are also exploring whether Joushua may have been connected to any criminal activity, though he has no prior history with police and has never been reported missing before.

The Sunbury community has rallied behind the family’s call for information.

Police have re-released images of Joshua, who is Caucasian, of average build, with short blonde hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black singlet and tracksuit pants.

Anyone who saw Joshua after May 27 or has details that may assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
