Family’s emotional plea to find missing son

The family of a missing Sunbury man have made an emotional plea for their son to come home.

Joshua Bishop, 23, was last seen in Lalor Crescent, Sunbury, about 9.30pm on Tuesday, May 27 by his housemate.

He was reported missing by his mother on May 29.

Mum Kristie, dad Travis and Joshua’s brother, Riley, said his disappearance was out of character.

“We were just hoping that Josh just needed some time out and would ring us in the next day,” Kristie said.

Kristie said he was always very open with her, calling regularly.

“This is not something he would do unless he felt he had to,” she said.

Police said Joshua’s phone and bank accounts have not been accessed, and he has not been in contact with family or friends over the past 10 days.

Police said they were able to track his phone to the Broadmeadows Valley Park at 11.30pm on May 27, however no trace of him has been found.

His car was also located in Albion on June 4, however police said they believe this is not related to his disappearance at this stage.

Kristie said she was concerned for her son’s mental health, as well as the possibility he may have been using substances.

“He said ‘I’m fine mum, I’m fine, I don’t have a problem,” she said.

“I could see he had changed in his face and body.”

Travis was emotional as he made a plea for help finding his son.

“We just want him to know we love him,” he said.

“We’re all just praying he’s safe.”

The family thanked the Sunbury community, their family and friends for their support.

Anyone who sights Joshua or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
