All abilities sport receives funding boosts

Two sports clubs in the Macedon Ranges have benefited from the Regional All Abilities Participation Grants program.

Flying Fox Services in Lancefield has received $23,018 for the facilitation to support inclusive fitness and movement at its camps, and South Gisborne Tennis Club has received $7200 for the creation of a new program and permanent all abilities coach.

“These grants will provide a massive boost for our local organisations, giving more people the chance to take part in sports they love, closer to home,” Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said.

The recipients of the grant were announced by Community Sport Minister Ros Spence, with 88 grants and over $1.5 million up for grabs through the program for grassroots sport and active recreation clubs, and not-for-profit organisations.

With grants of up to $25,000, the program aims to increase access, inclusion and options for people living with a disability to access the benefits of sport and active recreation in regional Victoria.

“We want to create inclusive environments for people with disability to not only participate but kick start new opportunities in a range of roles in the sports they love,” she said.
