Hume’s young leaders to be recognised

Nominations are open now for the 2025 Hume Young Leaders Awards.

The annual celebration invites nominations for young people living in Hume aged 12 to 24 who are advocating for, and leading change within their communities and across the city.

Nominations can be made on behalf of a young person who’s making change, or by the young person themself, to ensure their worthwhile efforts are recognised.

There are multiple categories to nominate a young leader in, including Young Advocacy Leader, Young Environmental Leader, Young Creative Leader, Young Entrepreneurial Leader, Young Sport Leader, Young Refugee/Newly Arrived Leader, Young Aboriginal Leader and Young Group of the Year.

Young people new to their leadership journey will also be selected as an Emerging Young Leader and one Young Leader of the Year, both of which will be chosen by an assessment panel.

All finalists and their families will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at Broadmeadows Town Hall in September, where category winners will receive a $500 cheque and certificate from Hume City Council.

“Hume’s young leaders are people who are fearless when it comes to addressing needs and inequalities in our community in the pursuit of effecting change,” Mayor Jarrod Bell said.

“We’re looking for nominees for our Young Leader Awards that have shown they are leading by example, setting a standard that others can follow.

“If you know someone who is exemplary when it comes to their work in the community, please nominate them so that they can be recognised.”

Nominations are open now and will close Monday, July 7. For more information, go to hume.vic.gov.au/Residents/People-Services/Youth/Awards-and-Scholarships/Young-Leaders-Awards
