Tour grants available to artists

Applications now open for the latest round of the state government’s Touring Victoria program.

The program is designed to make sure more world-class performances, exhibitions and creative events are presented at local venues across the state, including in Sunbury and Macedon Ranges.

Grants of between $10,000 and $150,000 are available for artists and creative organisations to take their productions, performances and exhibitions to regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.

Touring Victoria also supports Victorian artists and creative companies to build their profile and audience base across the state while providing an economic boost to the places they tour.

Last year, Touring Victoria grants supported six companies to tour more than 20 destinations throughout the state.

This included regional performances and school workshops by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Koorie Heritage Trust’s upcoming regional presentation of JXSH MVIR: FOREVER I LIVE, an exhibition of work by the late Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Barkindji artist Josh Muir, and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus’s show Tempo.

“Through Touring Victoria, we are making sure that the best live theatre, music and cultural events can hit the road,” said Treasurer and Werribee MP, Tim Pallas.

“I encourage local artists and creative companies to apply for grants to take their work to communities across the state.”

The 2024 round of the Touring Victoria program will support artists and shows to hit the road from December 1, 2024.

Applications are now open and close on August 1.
