Romsey East Telstra mobile customers will experience outages and service disruptions, as the company upgrades infrastructure in the region.
From Monday, June 24, to Friday, June 28, there will be no Telstra mobile 3G or 4G coverage from the Romsey East mobile base station.
This is due to infrastructure works that will improve 4G service and allow for 5G coverage from the site.
Customers will also experience intermittent disruptions to their mobile service during daylight hours over the weekend, as the company completes call testing and integration from Saturday, June 29, to Monday, July 1.
Mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted, nor will landline and NBN internet services.
Emergency calls to triple-0 during an outage will automatically use any other available network.
Telstra northern and western Victoria regional general manager Steve Tinker said that works will be completed during daylight hours for safety reasons.
“There’s never a good time to undertake this sort of work but once it is completed, it will mean better mobile services for local residents,” Mr Tinker said.
In a media release, Telstra recommended that affected residents activate Wi-Fi calling on their mobile phones, available on most popular phone models.
The company also advised retailers who use Telstra-operated EFTPOS terminals to contact their bank for details on how to use alternative wired internet connections to ensure smooth service.
