Funding for Sunbury

Sunbury residents will be soon have access to essential services close to home, following $11 million worth of new infrastructure investment projects.

The projects are funded through the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) fund, which is a one-off contribution payable by landowners developing land that has been zoned for urban use and development in Hume, among others.

Projects in Sunbury include, $5.9 million to build a Satellite Victorian State Emergency Service, $2.9 million for a Dialysis/chemotherapy expansion at Sunbury Community Hospital, $1.8 million upgrade for Sunbury Station and $940,000 for active transport connections along Vineyard Road.

Premier Jacinta Allan said they know more Victorians want to live close to transport, schools and essential services.

“This investment will deliver exactly the kind of infrastructure Victorian families need in our fastest growing suburbs,” she said.

Sunbury MP Josh Bull said the funds will help assist Sunbury as it grows.

“These are excellent commitments for our community that will assist us as we grow and continue our record of strong local investment in health, transport and community facilities,” he said.

Other local government areas to receive GAIC funding include Cardinia, Casey, Melton, Mitchell, Whittlesea and Wyndham.
