Macedon residents are invited to a community fundraising day on Saturday, February 24, hosted by Macedon CFA.
The annual event has been running since 1968 and will kick off at 9.30am at the corner of Victoria and Smith Street.
The goods and services auction will commence at 11am, alongside a silent auction, a presentation from Wild Action Zoo, a raffle, virtual fire fighting, and plenty of activities for the kids including a petting zoo.
Clytie Deering from the Macedon CFA said they expect between 500 to 800 people during the course of the day, which is similar to how many people attended last year.
“The day is important for the community to come along and not only support the fundraising but also to connect with their local fire brigade and understand what we do,” she said.
“[Residents can also] see the equipment we use and what we purchase with the funds raised.
“Macedon Tanker 2 is owned by the brigade, and this second appliance gives the brigade increased flexibility to keep a firefighting appliance at home for local protection when other big fires are burning across the state.
“Macedon Forward Control Vehicle is another brigade-owned appliance that we upgrade regularly.
“We have purchased additional breathing apparatus, chainsaws, portable lighting for incidents, radios etc.”
There will also be food available on the day, including coffee and hot jam donuts, produce, cakes and more.
Second hand items cannot be auctioned off, but the CFA is inviting new goods or services donations to auction. Residents can message them on Facebook with the details.
Macedon CFA said they would also like to thank many of the local businesses who have already provided some fantastic items to auction.
