Exciting win at Kyneton

An exciting day of racing at Kyneton was kicked off by a great run from an unexpected winner.

Anthony and Sam Freedman trained horse Dismount was a highlight of the day running in race one’s 1210 metre Protest Promise Maiden Plate.

The three-year-old Bay Gelding was asked to go early by jockey Ben Allen and looked to be the first one off the bit.

It then really laid out hard and ran on a diagonal from the 300 metre mark. It seemed like he might have got to the front too early and spent his tickets as Carat Time began to make its move.

Dismount however, found something late and hit the line hard, winning by a length on Carat Time, followed by Our Emmbar.

Overall, it got the gun ride from Allen getting the job done and is set to improve off its maiden race, benefiting from the experience.

Dismount part owner and syndicate manager Jamie Daou said he was pleased with the start to its racing career.

Daou is also a part of a syndicate affiliated with Blue Diamond winner Artorious.

“We were confident that it was going to go well but we didn’t expect it to be such a great start to his career,” Daou said.

“We’ve been waiting for him to be race ready for a while, and weren’t expecting such a strong start.

“We’re really excited and we’re expecting some great things over the next year.

“After struggling to find his feet in early training work, the penny looks to have dropped for Dismount. Keep an eye for him in the spring.”
