Macedon Ranges council is inviting community feedback on its heritage strategy, amid update plans.
Council announced on May 24, it is seeking feedback on the strategy which sets the management approach and helps identify the work completed, while identifying and prioritising future work.
Director planning and environment Rebecca Stockfeld said she encouraged residents to consider the different elements of heritage, including; First Nations history and the colonial past.
“Heritage includes things like our histories of women, migrants and workers, exotic trees and plantings, historic landscapes for water or travel, and our agricultural history,” Ms Stockfeld said.
“It can also be about those in our community who champion the heritage we love and work to preserve it.
“It’s everything that combines to form the unique history of the Macedon Ranges and what we all love about it today.”
For the feedback, residents are being asked to submit photos of the Macedon Ranges, along with an explanation of what they love about its heritage, what they would like to keep and what needs to change.
Council said these submissions would be used to help inform and update the strategy, and the photos will be displayed in an image gallery, with some to be used in the heritage strategy 2023 documentation.
Residents will be able to make submissions on the strategy until June 23, at 5pm.
