Cutting the cost of bills in Hume

Hume council is encouraging all residents to take a look at their energy bill and claim a one-off $250 payment through the state government’s Power Saving Bonus (PSB).

The bonus is available to households who look for a better energy deal on the Victorian Energy Compare Website.

This new round of the PSB started on Friday, March 24, and has been made available to all Victorians who have a residential electricity account and are the account holder.

For residents that need assistance in claiming this one-off payment, council will hold a series of ‘Bring your Bills’ days.

The first event will be at the Newbury Child and Community Centre on Wednesday, March 29, from 10am-2pm, where you can meet experts from the water, power and service sectors who will help you claim this bonus and provide free, confidential advice.

One payment is available per household. You will need to bring:

All pages of a recent electricity bill under your name

Your bank account details (BSB and account number)

Comparing your bills through the Power Saving Bonus programs may provide residents with access to reduced rates, concession prices or hardship payments.
