Sunfest will be returning March 18 and 19 after a three year absence following COVID-19.

Sunfest president Craig McTaggart said he is excited to get the community together and carry on the tradition of the festival.

“I’m looking forward to Sunfest returning smiles to the faces of the kids and residents of Sunbury,” he said.

“Sunfest has been a family favourite but unfortunately because of COVID we haven’t been able to run something for the last three years.”

“It was a pretty tough time for all of us.”

The two-day festival will feature market and food stalls, carnival rides, grand street parade, battle of the school choirs, a colour run and fireworks.

Mr McTaggart said in the past they have had over 30,000 people attend across the two days and is hoping for a high turn out this year.

“It’ll be amazing to get [the festival] back and showcase the local community,” he said. “It’s all about the community and getting back together again.”

“My favourite is the Saturday night entertainment, we have the Party Girl 80s band, with some locals in the band.”

“We want to have a really good family orientated party on the Saturday night to get smiles on faces.”

If you are looking to stretch your legs, the colour run will be taking place on Sunday, March 19 at Village Green on Stawell Street.

Tickets are now on sale for $11.90 and the event will include spot prizes on the day and a medal for every runner that finishes the race.
