Sunbury United is through to the next round of the knockout Australia Cup, while Gisborne’s campaign is over. United won through without kicking a ball in the first round as its opponent, Falcons 2000 forfeited the match the day before. Gisborne suffered a 2-1 loss to Knox United. Aidan Crisp was the goal scorer for the Sky Blues in the 18th minute.

Macedon is on top after day one of its clash with Kilmore in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association Johnstone Shield. The Cats bowled Kilmore out for 138 and finished day one 0-10 in reply. Tom Kean took four wickets for the Cats. In other matches, Kyneton was bowled out for 223 against Riddell. The Bombers are 1-7 in reply. Sunbury United is 2-11 in reply to Romsey’s 215, while Bacchus Marsh made 6-285 against Gisborne.

Malmsbury has already claimed first innings points against Blackwood in the Gisborne and District Cricket Association Jensen Shield. Malmsbury bowled Blackwood out for 121 before finishing day one at 2-159. Neither side can make finals. Wallan made 211 against Lancefield, while Diggers Rest Bulla is 1-0 in reply to Rupertswood’s 202.

EDFL

East Sunbury has announced the signing of Mitch Church for the upcoming Essendon District Football League division 2 season. Church joins the Thunder from Westmeadows, where he was named in the EDFL division 1 team of the year on multiple occasions. He also has Victorian Football League experience. The Thunder also announced the signings of Matt Smith, Josh Gray, Tobias Robinson and Tom McEntee. The Thunder re-enter the competition this season after not fielding senior sides last year. Aaron Kite will coach the side.
