Sons of the West returns to Sunbury

A chance to tackle mental health through education, physical activity, and community is being offered to men in the Sunbury next month, with Sons of the West to be delivered by Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health (SCCH) in partnership with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF).

The free 10-week exercise and education program will help participants feel healthier, more active and better connected to community.

SCCH Sons of the West program coordinator Kylie Stafford it was a success year after year.

“The program really manages to engage with local men and get them to make life-long and significant changes to their health and wellbeing,“ she said.

SCCH said the program presenters include a dietician, an exercise physiologist and a mental health clinician.

“We aim to empower men to improve their health and wellbeing by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support to take control of their health journey,” Ms Stafford said.

Participants are given great encouragement during the 10 weeks, with giveaways and incentives too, including a chance to win signed merchandise from the

Western Bulldogs Football Club.

Sons of the West begins on Tuesday, March 7, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, to be delivered in-person every week in Sunbury, and is free thanks to support from the Sunbury and Bulla Neighbourhood Fund.
