A grassfire in Woodend which took nearly an hour to bring under control was started by a mower in long grass, Woodend Country Fire Authority (CFA) said.
In a social media post, the CFA said it was called to a grassfire on Friday, January 27, which was burning on a large property near town. “On arriving at the station, smoke was clearly visible showing the the fire had taken hold. Woodend tanker one was first on the scene, which was then joined Woodend tanker two and tankers from Tylden, Macedon and Hesket-Kerrie. “With the dry, warm period we are now experiencing, any fires will spread quickly,” Woodend CFA said.
