Lancefield Romsey Little Athletics are celebrating a $1000 grant to buy new equipment.

The Coles Little Athletics Community Fund money is part of the company’s push to support grassroots Little Athletics centres, made possible by the Coles Little Athletics Banana A-Peel fundraiser held earlier this year.

Lancefield Romsey Little Athletics president Simon Greenwood said the grant would be useful in helping the centre provide a top quality program to its athletes and volunteers.

“We are a small regional centre but have seen growth in numbers over the last few years,” he said.

“This grant will enable us to purchase additional hurdles and vortexes which will help us to run our weekly competitions with the best equipment possible and hopefully allow our kids to perform at a very high standard.”

Coles acting state general manager Daniel Ellul said the company had been a proud supporter of Little Athletics for more than five years and was thrilled to give over $50,000 in sports equipment grants to centres across Victoria.

“We know very well the impact the pandemic has had on local clubs and communities over the past two years, and we hope these grants will help them to recover and look forward to a new Little Athletics season ahead,” he said.
